May showers for Mother’s Day flowers?

May is the second driest Month on our calendar here in Tucson, but Mother Nature has been throwing us plenty of curve balls this year and here comes another for Mother’s Day.

For the short term, Friday night looks dry with plenty of clouds in our skies and maybe a light shower for the mountains of Graham and Greenlee Counties.

Saturday looks mostly cloudy and we’ll hold on to a 10% chance of showers for Tucson and a 20% chance for locations southeast of town.

By Mother’s Day, an area of low pressure will sweep through the region and increase rain (and storm) chances to about 70%.

So how rare is May rain?

An area of high pressure will finally build in the area by the middle of next week and increase our temperatures into the mid 90s. Some of the western Deserts could approach 100 degrees.
